Breanna's Battle

Taken from her facebook page:

This page was made so that people can learn and understand what breanna is going threw on march 23 2012 breanna was born with many heart defect little did we know at just 3 weeks
old she went under the 1st of many heart surgery's and at only a month old i though we would have to say goodbye but the good lord had other plans she is now 6 months old awaiting
her next heart surgery

(AV CANAL )
Atrioventricular canal defect is a combination of several abnormalities in the heart present at birth (congenital abnormalities)
This defect, which is sometimes called endocardial cushion defect or atrioventricular septal defect, occurs when there's a hole between
the chambers of the heart and problems with the valves that regulate blood flow in the heart. Atrioventricular canal defect allows extra
blood to circulate to the lungs.Ensuing problems overwork the heart and cause it to enlarge. Atrioventricular canal defect is often associated with Down syndrome. If left untreated, atrioventricular canal defect may cause heart failure and high blood pressure in the lungs. To fix this defect, doctors often recommend surgery during the first year of life to close the hole and reconstruct the valves.

(Hypoplastic left heart syndrome) HLHS

Hypoplastic left heart syndrome occurs when parts of the left side of the heart
(mitral valve, left ventricle, aortic valve, and aorta) do not develop completely.
The condition is present at birth (congenital).

(THIS IS BREANNAS CHROMOSOME ISSUES )
What is Chromosome 10p duplication/10q deletion syndrome?•Chromosome 10p
duplication/10q deletion syndrome: A rare chromosomal disorder where a section
of the short arm (p) of chromosome 10 is duplicated and a section of the long arm
(q) of chromosome 10 is deleted resulting in various abnormalities.•Chromosome
10p duplication/10q deletion syndrome: Duplication of a portion of the short arm
of chromosome 10 combined with deletion of the long arm of chromosome 10
. Clinical manifestations are similar to those seen in patients with chromosome
10p duplication and chromosome 10q deletion syndromes. The most frequently
occurring defects include central nervous system disorders (hypotonia, poor
feeding, and mental retardation), cranial anomalies (microcephaly, dolichocephaly
, retrognathia, wide sutures, frontal bossing, cleft lip and palate, and nose
malformations), skeletal deformities (clinodactyly, camptodactyly, and clubfoot),
urogenital anomalies, and cardiac defects

(THE REASON BREANNA HAS A TRACH )
tracheomalacia
Pediatrics Congenital weakness of the tracheal wall which occurs when the
cartilage in the trachea fails to develop or mature in a timely manner, with
↓ rigidity Clinical Stridor, rattling breath that worsens with URIs; as the trachea
l cartilage grows, noisy respirations and breathing difficulties recede. See Stridor.

( THE REASON FOR THE FEEDING TUBE )
Dysphagia is the medical term for the symptom of difficulty in swallowing breanna cant not eat or swollow to this day
with out throwing up or gaging and her stomach is to small and can only hold so much food at a time ....so she now
eats threw a GJ feeding tube
